Pete is sponsored by Silva UK to run the Silva Map and Compass Courses, three levels of comprehensive navigation training for those who want to learn effective map and compass skills, whatever their outdoor sport.  The courses are run throughout the year and are based in the Peak District village of Tideswell and are practical courses using the unique landscape of the National Park.

Pete has been teaching navigation courses for over twenty-five years and has written written numerous articles for Country Walking magazine over the years and three books on the subject. All have become popular choices for navigators of all standards and from a variety of discipline, walkers, mountain bikers, and Trec Horse Riders.

Peakland Walking Holidays

Peakland Walking Holidays is run by walking guide and writer Pete Hawkins.  He has run the business for over fifteen years and has been leading and training groups for over 25 years.   He has led walking holidays around the world (Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Greenland, Iceland and Cuba to name but a few) and has a wealth of experience and stories to last another 25!
